Terms of Service

Last Updated: February 25, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to The Permit Bot. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the services, website, and applications (collectively, the "Service") provided by River Marketing Inc., a California corporation doing business as The Permit Bot ("we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account, accessing, or using our Service, you ("Contractor," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

The Permit Bot provides a document-generation tool designed to help roofing contractors prepare and assemble permit applications for submission to local building departments across California. Our Service includes:

  • AI-assisted permit application generation based on user-submitted information
  • Runner services for physical filing and delivery of permit documents
  • A client portal for tracking permit status and managing projects
  • Document storage and retrieval

3. No Guarantee of Permit Approval

The Permit Bot is a document-generation and filing assistance tool. We do NOT guarantee that any city, county, or government entity will approve your permit application.

Permit approval is solely at the discretion of the relevant building department or government authority. We make every effort to prepare accurate, complete applications based on the information you provide, but we cannot control the review or decision-making processes of any government body.

A rejection, request for corrections, or delay by a building department does not constitute a failure of our Service and is not grounds for a refund unless otherwise stated in our refund policy.

4. Contractor Responsibility for Data Accuracy

You, the Contractor, are 100% responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and truthfulness of all data and information you submit through the Service. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Property measurements and dimensions
  • Roofing materials and specifications
  • Contractor license numbers and classification
  • Workers' compensation insurance information
  • Property owner information and authorization
  • Scope of work descriptions
  • Any other project-related data or documentation

We rely on the information you provide to generate permit documents. If inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading data is submitted, any resulting permit denial, delay, penalty, fine, or legal consequence is solely your responsibility. The Permit Bot shall not be held liable for any issues arising from incorrect data submitted by the Contractor.

5. Limitation of Liability

5.1 Maximum Liability

Our maximum aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to The Permit Bot for the specific permit application giving rise to the claim.

5.2 Exclusion of Consequential Damages

In no event shall River Marketing Inc. (d/b/a The Permit Bot), its officers, directors, employees, agents, or affiliates be liable for any:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
  • Project delays, construction schedule disruptions, or downtime
  • Costs of substitute services or materials
  • Penalties or fines imposed by government entities

This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise), even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

5.3 No Liability for Project Delays

The Permit Bot is not responsible for any project delays resulting from permit processing times, government review periods, requests for corrections, inspections, or any other factors outside of our direct control. Construction timelines and scheduling are entirely the Contractor's responsibility.

6. Account and Payment

You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Payment terms are as specified at the time of service purchase and are subject to our pricing schedule.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, software, design, branding, and technology comprising the Service are the property of River Marketing Inc. and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms, provide false information, or engage in conduct that we determine to be harmful to our Service, other users, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless River Marketing Inc. (d/b/a The Permit Bot) and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Inaccurate or false information you provide
  • Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Any third-party claims related to permits generated using your data

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defects will be corrected.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
